Wi-Fi Modernization for a Regional Energy & Utilities Company

Case Study — Utilities & Energy

At A Glance

A regional energy and utilities company needed reliable, high-density Wi-Fi across a mix of warehouses, indoor work areas, and outdoor yards, twelve facilities in total, plus a live RFID tracking initiative at one site that depended on rock-solid wireless coverage indoors and out.

The Challenge

Each of the twelve facilities required a structured wireless assessment before AIS could recommend a deployment-ready design. At the same time, one facility needed a working RFID tracking system live now, which meant indoor racking, exterior walls, and outdoor yard zones all needed dependable coverage simultaneously.

The Solution We Delivered

AIS conducted a standardized field assessment across all twelve locations: onsite walkthroughs, RF-obstruction surveys, and predictive heat-map modeling, producing a site-by-site design blueprint ready for phased deployment. At the facility with the active RFID initiative, AIS executed that deployment directly: 26 Cisco access points across indoor and outdoor zones, weatherized enclosures for pole- and exterior-mounted units, and fully tested Cat6a cabling back to the network core.

Results & Impact

A deployment-ready wireless blueprint now exists across all 12 facilities, a live RFID-enabling network is running in production at the pilot site, and complete as-built documentation was handed over for ongoing support.
