Standing Up a New Union Headquarters Network from the Ground Up

Case Study — Labor Organizations

At A Glance

A trade union needed a complete technology infrastructure built for its new headquarters and training center, firewall, switching, enterprise wireless, and servers, while keeping its existing facility fully operational during the transition.

The Challenge

The new 54,600-square-foot facility needed a secure, production-ready network built from scratch to run membership software, Microsoft 365, and daily operations. To protect continuity, the new and existing facilities had to run in tandem, requiring secure bi-directional connectivity between both sites throughout the transition.

The Solution We Delivered

AIS deployed the full network stack, firewall, managed switching, servers, and enterprise wireless, with role-based VLANs separating administrative, member-facing, and AV and voice traffic. A predictive wireless design validated voice-and-data coverage across the entire facility on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. AIS managed the project end-to-end across a five-phase plan, coordinating stakeholders alongside the electrical and AV trades while maintaining connectivity between the new and legacy sites through cutover.

Results & Impact

The new headquarters came online fully operational with zero disruption to ongoing member services. Staff were productive on day one with access to core systems, and the union now has a secure, segmented network built to scale with the facility.
